What's Goin' Down Tonight:

I'm going to see these New Yorkers play Brixton Academy, that's what. The Walkmen are opening for the Black Keys tonight, and I'm definitely more excited about their set than the headliners' right now. They've come a long way since the garage bands of the late nineties that first saw them taking music seriously.

Now, with a love for vintage sound equipment and a propensity to include piano and horns in their songs, they're doing well to cement themselves as an indie favourite with some longevity. I love this song in particular because even though I first heard it via NPR in like August, it sounded like Christmas. And not in a shitty way.

The Walkmen are:
Hamilton Leithauser (vocals, guitar)
Paul Maroon (guitar, piano)
Walter Martin (keys, organ, bass)
Peter Bauer (bass, organ)
Matt Barrick (drums)

Buy their new record Lisbon (Bella Union) HERE if you like what you hear.
