Gig Preview: Rush Midnight at Glasslands Gallery

Today Brooklyn-based bassist and producer Rush Midnight, né Russ Manning, released this single, "Don't Give Me Your Love," on Cascine Records. It's made of the shimmery, 80s-inspired melodies and signature jaunty basslines that he perfected playing bass in George Lewis Jr's band Twin Shadow before going solo--and it's awesome.

I'm interviewing Russ and watching him play a show at Glasslands Gallery in Williamsburg tomorrow night, with labelmates Selebrities and Wildarms, so if you're at a loose end and in the city, I strongly advise you to come by. As ever, Cascine have nurtured someone who straddles nostalgia and a future pop sound so well, and I'm looking forward to talking through Russ' influences with him tomorrow night.

He released EP +1 last year, which you can buy for yourself here and features production credits from George. For a taste of the real thing, tickets to the Glasslands show are still going and just $10 a pop.
